I bought this dress right after I had Rowena, and it's been my workhorse every fall and winter since. I usually pair it with my mustard beret, black leggings, and old-as-Moses oxfords. Today I went a different route.
Beret: Gap Camisole: Shade Clothing Necklace: American Eagle Dress: Gap (Louis Vuitton knockoff, I think) Bag: Sak Silverlake Flap Tights: Marshalls Booties: Seychelles (thrifted)
Tomorrow Darin, Roey, and I are headed up to Seattle for a few days. We are dropping off a play kitchen to a customer. I love mini roadtrips! Do any of you have suggestions of 'must visits' that I should check out?
Don't forget to enter for a chance to win a $35 gift certificate from CSN Stores! You have until next Thursday, October 7th!
I am excited to host Coffee and a Cardigan's first giveaway! Sean from CSN contacted me to host and he has been so helpful and informative. I know this is primarily a fashion blog, but we fashion-lovers have to cook and sleep and work out, don't we? You can use this $35 gift certificate at any of CSN's 200 stores! (There's a SHOE store, too.) Here are my favorite picks:
I have always wanted a daybed with drawers to stuff my treasures! There are tons of bed sets to choose from. (I found a lot of decor inspiration looking through the pictures.)I don't own a microwave anymore, so this adorable Le Creuset apple ramekin would be perfect to reheat my leftovers.I've been drooling over these Bass saddle shoes for months now. If these aren't your cup of chai, there are hundreds of others! To enter this giveaway, just leave a comment to let me know what you would spend your $35 gift certificate on. I would also appreciate it if you would follow me on Bloglovin' or Blogger if you like what you see here. I will pick a number from the trusty old random number generator on Thursday, October 7th! Please make sure that I have access to your email address so I can contact the winner.
* This giveaway is open to US residents and Canadian readers. The certificate cannot be used toward shipping, but most of the items I looked at came with free shipping regardless.
Lesson learned: I should have ironed this skirt. It is my favorite, after all.
Hat: Forever 21 Navy T-shirt: Gap Blazer: Thrifted Skirt: Gap Argyle socks: Gap (Remember, I worked there for 5 years!) Clogs: Miz Mooz 'Howl' (birthday gift from inlaws)
My cold is in full force and it's too humid for a hot toddy. Instead I drank some generic Nyquil last night and went to bed at 8! I'm glad I am getting this cold out of the way so I can enjoy fall when it really comes to Oregon.
Sidenote: I am so happy that it is now 'acceptable' to wear short socks with shoes and sandals! (At least the runways have told us this is okay. I don't think anyone should have to follow fashion 'rules.') Because of my argyle socks (which are my favorite socks), I am concealing an ugly spider bite I received the other day. See, you'll never know.
This dress does me no favors in the hip area, but I bought the dress for it's pom-poms and shadowy brocade qualities anyway. Do you have any pieces in your closet like that? It's so humid today! I feel like I'm back in Michigan.
Dress: Forever 21 Gladiator Sandals: Frye (thrifted for $4.49, I kid you not) Glasses: Calvin Klein
I snatched Darin's guitar from him when he wasn't looking-- the man is actually practicing for practice. Talk about dedication.
On Saturday I attended a dear friend's baby shower and Sunday Darin, Rowena and I visited neighbors (now friends) for almost SIX hours. It was awesome and much-needed.
Cocoa is not coffee, but it can be just as helpful on a cool night. Darin bought some HUGE marshmallows last week to roast in our fire pit, but we've been using them in homemade hot chocolate. So good.
It makes me want to watch an old collage favorite... Marshie, the Fluffy Puff Marshmallow!
I'm participating in No Make-up Week! It actually felt nice to just wash and moisturize my face this morning without the worry of mascara and blush. Lip-balm doesn't count as makeup, right?
Beret: Forever 21 Scarf: Gap Sweater Dress: Thrifted Lace Cami: Shade Clothing Knee Socks: Sock Dreams Bag: Thrifted Shoes: Seychelles Duchess (bought with gift card)
"Louise, loosen up!" My reaction:
I am so comfortable. I feel like I am wearing pajamas, which is always a good thing. Thanks again to those of you who voted for these shoes! They are the most comfortable heels/wedges that I own. The fam and I are going into Salem tonight for dinner at a friend's house. I'll also go into my dad's work to lovingly harass/surprise him. It's been a while since I stopped by. TGIF!
Thanks to all of you who gave me advice when I asked for Shoe Help a while back. All your comments were so helpful in making a decision! Without further ado, here are the awkwardly taken upside-down pictures! Note the tea-cup and bunny adorned pajamas.
I am so glad I picked these-- no regrets. I can dress them up or down, they look great with dresses and pants, and they are incredibly comfortable to walk in. Thanks again for your help! And thank you for the well-wishes for my wee cold-- I feel so much better!
I love being able to drive at night without the worry of inadvertently murdering people! Prescription eye-wear rules. Even when you have to get the big plastic frames because you are legally blind in your left eye.
It's 3:42 pm and I still don't know what I 'm going to wear today. Oh gosh, it's been a day.
Cardigan: Gap Jeans: Gap Ruffle Tank: Gap Can you tell I worked at Gap for five years? Necklace: Forever 21 Wedges: BC Footwear via Ross Lipstick: MAC Russian Red
I try not to dress in head-to-toe Gap, but it's hard to do! I'm trying to get more one-of-a-kind pieces in my wardrobe. It may be time for a Goodwill run soon. Today was all about being comfortable while I ran errands. I picked up my new specs (no more headaches!), got a trim (no more split ends!), and stocked up on soup supplies (no more ambiguous summer night dinners!)
My friend Patty passed a lentil recipe on to me, so I am soaking green lentils in the hopes of making some for dinner tonight. If it turns out well, I'll post the recipe!
I love Gap. I just ended a five year stint at Gap Inc. and I have many fond memories (and clothes) of working there. That said, I make (mostly good-natured) fun of the company a lot. For example, why did they name their gray tights "Oil Spill"? Really, Gap?
What do you think, readers? Just a joke in bad taste or a bizarre coincidence?
The weekend ended as sunny as rainy as it started. And then it rained again. Oh, Orygun. Why can't you have a transitional period? Now that Oktoberfest is over, (well, in 2 hours) my life and health habits can get back on track. It was fun while it lasted, but I am ready for plain old life to come back.
