Did you think I turned into a handsome man since yesterday? I just had to snap a few photos of Darin's dapper self and share the successful results with you.

What are you doing for New Year's? I'm planning on having a couple White Russians at a family party and then sneaking away to sit by a warm heater and read. Of course! I am not a big fan of New Year's... I feel a little sad, saying goodbye to another year. I do not like change and have never dealt with it heroically. It's hard to grow up! Who's with me? Nevertheless, I am excited to make some stuffed mushrooms and reread some Harry Potter. Perhaps I can fit a Hitchcock film in there somewhere. They're always time for Rope!

Hey, I heard that! I hear your snickering and accusations of my supposed Bumpit usage! I plead the fifth.

Tonight we had a poetry party at my parents' house! It's exactly what it sounds like: people recite poems. Darin and I usually play a song or two instead, him on guitar, me singing. Good food, nice people, beautiful poetry. 'Twas brillig.

As you may have noticed, I installed Disqus in the comments! Please give me your feedback on this-- I know that it slows down the page a little, but I like the fact that I can visibly reply to your comments or questions. Thanks!

Elvish Tendencies

Cardigan: Nordstrom
Dress: Vintage
Belt: Thrifted
Earrings: Gap lost and found
Cowl: Gift from Brooke Ann
Socks: c/o We Love Colors
Shoes: Not Rated
My sister's family is visiting from California, I took a week off from work, and it's honestly been a nonstop party, baklava included. I mostly love it, but during family gatherings I often sneak away for some bookish solitude. My introverted self is constantly at odds with my extroverted self. In other news, I dream in shoes. It's getting expensive.

Have a lovely Wednesday!

Five Month Anniversary

Coffee and a Cardigan is five months old! I was incredibly nervous to start this blog... concerned that I wasn't pretty enough, thin enough, funny enough, blah, blah, vomit. Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. I honestly couldn't have survived the blogosphere without it!

Is there anything you'd like to see more of? Less of? I would love to hear all your feedback, negative, positive, or peanut buttery. Thank you again! I appreciate you so much.

I'm Wearing a Zoo

Hairpiece: Urban Outfitters
Dress: Nasty Gal
The Owl Purse!: Christmas gift from Darin
Sweater, scarf: Gap
Denim leggings: Old Navy
Booties: Seychelles 'Spectacle'
I hope you had the merriest of Christmases! I certainly did. As you can see, Darin gave me the long-coveted owl purse! I was so excited when I opened it up; the craftsmanship is amazing. I won't want to wear another bag for a while. I unwittingly wore it with my new adored kitty dress, although it's a little too short for comfort. I'm totally breaking the "only one animal per ensemble" fashion rule. Take that!

What was your favorite gift you received this Christmas? I love giving and getting, but it's really the joy of the holiday that makes me happy. At the end of the day, it's just stuff. Yup, I even feel that way about my owl purse. Long live families, friends, and the holidays that bring us closer together!

(Speaking of gifts, I am planning a giveaway once I reach 200 followers. Yippee!)

Glockenspieling Ja

Coat: Gap (7 years old?)
Snood: ebay
Dress: ASOS
Tights: We Love Colors
Gloves: My friend Erica's
Shoes: NaNa
Christmas Eve called for a rainy walk to to the 11:00 a.m. Glockenspiel performance! (Hence the really messy bangs.) The clock opens up and 'dances' four times a day, and it's one of my favorite aspects of Mount Angel. Rowena loves the Tuba-man best. Speaking of Rowena, see how different our styles are? She prefers cozy sweaters and jeans, but she always takes my gloves on the way home. During the warm months, she wears a lot of sweet vintage dresses and silly rompers, but I don't want her suffering for fashion just yet. I do that enough for both of us.
I hope you are having a spectacular holiday weekend! I had a wonderful Christmas... too much good food, though. I have a date will Jillian Michaels now. Gotta work off my mom's amazing chocolate pie!

PS- Thank you all for your lovely comments about the songs. I used to get made fun of as a kid because of my deep speaking voice, so your support means a lot! Darn bloody bullies-- they'll get their comeuppance! Mwa ha ha ha!
