Hiya! I hope the end of your week finds you alive and warm and happy! Guess what? I have decided to discontinue posting my outfits on social fashion networking sites like Chictopia and Weardrobe. Dun dun duuuunnnnn!!! I'm doing this for two reasons:

1) I want creative control over my photos. Well, as much control I can possibly get by posting my pictures on the internet. A few of my bloggy friends have had negative experiences in regards to pictures being used without permission, and I'd like to avoid that. I want to keep my photos linked back to Coffee & a Cardigan. Bloggers with integrity always link back, so why don't these style networks?

2) Relationships between the users tend to be fleeting and silly. For example, one user (using a Jonas Bros. moniker, oh no she didn't) comments on every single photo I post. Her comments have never varied from "cute!!!" No exaggeration. That said, I greatly appreciate the sweet and thoughtful comments a few women (and one really stylish & handsome man) leave me... I'll miss those people, and I hope they'll follow me back here. I want to foster friendships and inspiration, not gain ridiculous 'points' that don't mean a thing.

Now I'll have more time to comment on your blogs and keep this thing we have going. *wink*

Rinse and Repeat

Dress, headband: Forever 21
Cardigan: Nordstrom
Locket: won from Modcloth
Tights: c/o We Love Colors
Wedges: Pour la Victoire 'Ida'
I almost didn't wear this dress today because I wore it three posts ago, but methinks that's the point of clothing. Wearing it. So, here I am, donning this frock again because that's what I do. I'm Louise, and I wear my clothes.

This cardigan will never leave my closet, as I am fondly reminded of the time I spotted Veronica Mars wearing it. I was wearing it at the exact same time that I was watching the episode! I almost choked on my popcorn when I realized we were wearing the exact same sweater from the Nordy's clearance rack. Veronica and I are on the same wavelength in many ways, although I've got way better taste in men and shoes.

Have a wonderful day!

Sweet n' Sour Grapes

Dress, shoes: vintage
Belt: American Eagle
Socks: c/o We Love Colors
Beret: Gap
Beverage: Americano with cream

Forgive my slightly sour facial expression, but I was mad at my photographer. It must have been quite serious, because I can't even remember what I was arguing about. Shame on me for inflicting marital disputes upon you, my wonderful reader! I can't be the only blogger who gets in a silly spat with her photographer every now and then, right? Um... guys? Right??

PS- Congrats to #32 Erin, who won last week's Anika Burke giveaway!

Scent of a Louise

A while back, I posted about some Nanette Lepore perfume I bought merely because of the adorable packaging. Lucky for me, it's a pretty scent, and a perfect everyday perfume for the warmer months. It's quite sweet and floral, with strong notes of rose, raspberries, and violets. At the first spray it's too acidic, but it warmed up after a few minutes on my skin. The one thing I don't like about this perfume is the teensiest undertone of baby powder. Not "Love's Baby Soft" powdery, but just enough for me to notice. (Speaking of that wretched perfume, I once sprayed an entire bottle of Love's in my middle-school's hallway for poops and giggles. Winning!)

If this strikes your fancy and you have $26 to burn, Amazon is selling the Nanette Lepore gift set with free shipping. I'll be reviewing some more smelly delights soon, as my quest for the perfect perfume has ended! (Miss Dior Cherie with Tocca Stella as a close second.)

What's your go-to perfume for spring and summer?

Easter Tidings

Cape: Tulle
Cardigan: Gap
Dress: Forever 21
Tights: Hue
Bag: c/o Mimi Boutique
Oxfords: thrifted from the men's section
Hello, friend! Happy Easter Monday! I'm currently in a slight Cadbury egg coma, but plenty of apple-cider vinegar solution should rectify the situation. I think my Easter outfit was perfect for me. I went all matchy with my cape, tights and shoes, and it totally worked in a ironic tongue-in-cheek kind of way. Also, I've missed the top-knot. Since I cut my hair, the top-knot has been almost inaccessible to me! Thank you, cheap hairspray.

A Sonnet of your Easter Bonnet

Hat, dress: Forever 21
Cardigan: Gap
Pins: The Black Apple
Shoes: c/o Blowfish
Bag: c/o Mimi Boutique
Happy Easter, everyone! He is risen, yo.

As you can see, our chickens are growing and growing. This particular sexlink is named Tabitha, and she's probably the sweetest out of all of them.

I am rearranging my house today, so I can't stick around and tell you my deepest hopes and fears. (Fred Astaire coming back to life and ants crawling in my ears.) I hope you have a lovely weekend full of chocolate eggs and high fructose corn syrup!

Bluebird Bluebeard

Hat: Vintage
Dress: H&M
Cardigan: Gap
Pin: Little Sparrows
Bag: won from Hivenn's giveaway
Mocha tights: c/o We Love Colors
Oxfords: BC Footwear

I can't tell you how happy I am that Darin is back! YAY. For the first few days, it was a lot of fun; I left cupboard doors open, ate when I wanted to, spent hours at the library, and slept in the middle of the bed. The novelty soon wore off. I realized how Darin makes me a better person (in many different ways) and brings such balance into my potentially unhygienic life. Also, it's wonderful having my photographer back!

Speaking of, this is one of my favorite outfits in a while. You saw the dress before, but this time I mixed it with browns and dark blue. I quite like the result, and how I wish this dress came in every color under the rainbow!

Here's a preview for the next outfit post! Easter is almost upon us!
Good Friday!

The Unstyleable Shoe

Leather jacket: "I'm Sorry" gift from Darin, 2005
Top, skirt, leggings: Gap
Cami: Shade
Shoes: Vibram Five Fingers
Yup, they're weird. These Vibrams are a far cry from my usual 3.5 inch heels! I am in awe of their comfort, and I feel like a little kid when I wear them. I jog, hike, and puddle-jump in these with oh-so-reckless abandon! I will never, ever go back to typical athletic footwear. These feel so much more natural; our feet really are meant to be in contact with the earth. My sudden lack of postpartum back pain attests to that! Long live Vibram Five Fingers!

When wearing these gorilla feet with anything other than running pants, one must have a sense of humor. I went matchy-matchy with my skirt and top and threw in a little edge with my favorite Veronica Mars jacket. So, honest opinion. What do you think of the barefoot shoe? Do you have them? Or any suggestions on how on earth to style these next time?

Tulips are in Heaven

Headband: Forever 21
Top: Gap
Skirt: gift from Sartoriography
Tights: c/o We Love Colors
Shoes: Converse
Rowena and I spent one of our last mornings without Darin at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm! We met our dear friends there and had a lovely relaxing morning, strolling through the fields and playing on farm equipment and hay bales. The crazy part is, this place is barely ten minutes from my house! I didn't even know it existed! Sheesh. When Darin gets back from his trip, we are so coming back here.

The reason that Rowena is in almost all of my outfit photos is because she has been pretty sad and needy with her daddy gone. I think she's nervous that I might leave too! Poor little girl. Thank goodness Darin is coming back soon! Living like a bachelor was fun and glamorous the first week, but I am in need of some protein and a hot shower.

Back in Black

Vest: Ross
Dress: Gap
Tights: c/o We Love Colors
Shoes: vintage
amethyst ring: won from Hivenn
Why, hello! I apologize for dropping off the face of the blog for a few days. Rowena got sick, then I got sick, and today we spent the day resting up watching Swedish claymation. I'll make sure to respond to your comments soon. Anyway, I'm back! Lucky you. MWA HA HA HA!

My lovely mother took these pictures, hence my uncomfortable stature. I'm not accustomed to anybody but Darin taking my photos! I'd better get used to it for when I visit Miss Vinyl Ahoy this summer! Can't wait! Also, I love these new-to-me shoes. I like to think that they're someone's 1950s wedding shoes.... it's possible! The gorgeous ring is part of a package that I won from Hivenn's giveaway! I was so excited to receive it, and I have been wearing it nonstop since I got it in the mail.

Tell me what you did this weekend! Are you buying into the "Game of Thrones" hype? And is it really that bad to live like a complete bachelor when your husband is away? It's not like I had brownies for dinner or anything. Hem.

Flowers in her Hair

Head wreath: DIY
Dress (worn as top): Tucker for Target
Skirt: Gap
Magenta tights: c/o We Love Colors
Shoes: thrifted Seychelles
Hello, lovely reader! I am going to bed early tonight, as I have been reading too many books, watching too much "Scrubs," and drinking too much wine. (Well, not really too much wine... but one glass of this Shiraz makes me wonderfully sleepy.)

For some reason, this outfit is one of my very favorites. I felt very pretty, and proud of my handmade wreath and my amazing ability to tuck in my dress and turn it into a shirt. MAGICAL. Plus, I like my lips, especially in the last photo. I kinda want to kiss them myself. I should invest in a small mirror.

On My Own

Beret: Forever 21
Dress: Tulle
Knit blazer: thrifted
Tights: c/o We Love Colors in Orange
Shoes: vintage
Another walk up the Abbey Hill. Such a gorgeous view, isn't it? Since Darin went back east for a few days to help his dad build a barn, Rowena and I are on our own. (To all my stalkers: I have a gun, the whole town protects me, and I have a gun. And bullets.) Instead of moping around the house missing my husband and his strange yet endearing ways, I've been taking advantage of the alone time.

For instance:

1. I went to bed at 7 pm last night, woke up at 11 pm to blog, and went back to bed at 2 am.

2. Had my mom over for tea. She's not allowed in when Darin is here. (Kidding, Ma! She reads my blog, so I have to mess with her a little bit.)

3. Rowena and I spent all afternoon in the library, and I borrowed some kid books that I can't wait to get my hands on after I finish this post. (Neil Gaiman, The Mysterious Benedict Society, etc.) The space heater is calling my name, just begging me to sit near it and read all night!

4. I went thrifting today and picked up a Maurice Sendak book and a pair of creamy Italian wedding shoes! Can't wait to show them to you.

5. I'm blogging with a full glass of shiraz within reach.
